WAGNER APPLAUDS ANOTHER “TOP STATE FOR BUSINESS” RANKING
VIRGINIA REGAINS TOP SPOT IN CNBC POLL

RICHMOND – Democratic Nominee for Lt. Governor Jody Wagner released the following statement, in recognition of CNBC naming Virginia as the “Top State for Business,” and as having the seventh-best economy nationally, on Thursday:

“For the fourth time in the last month, the Commonwealth of Virginia has been recognized for our pro-business environment. I’m incredibly proud to have been a part of the Warner and Kaine teams that turned Virginia around. We’ve restored fiscal responsibility to state government, made record investments in education and workforce training, maintained a commonsense regulatory environment, and aggressively pursued new jobs creation projects. As a result, Virginia is the best state for business, and despite the current national economic climate, we’re fortunate to have the nation’s seventh best economy.

“As Lt. Governor, I’ll continue to fight for the policies that have once again been recognized as the nation’s best, to ensure we’re able to create new jobs and grow our economy. I hope my opponent, the current Lt. Governor, will join me in recognizing the success of the Warner-Kaine economic policies that have established Virginia as the best state for business, and put the Commonwealth in a position to thrive in the future.”

The CNBC ranking marks the seventh time during the Kaine Administration that Virginia has been recognized as the most business-friendly state. In recent weeks, Virginia has been cited as the “No. 1 Pro-Business State” by Pollina Corporate Real Estate Inc., the second “Best State for Business” by Directorship magazine, and the second “Best State to Start a Business” by U.S. News and World Report.

Jody Wagner served as Treasurer of Virginia from 2002-2005, and Secretary of Finance from 2006-2008.
