Virginia Beach — Citing the importance of having strong partners in state government, several Mayors and other local elected officials from Hampton Roads today endorsed Jody Wagner for Lieutenant Governor.
“Local governments across Virginia are facing tough times in this economic climate,” said Mayor Paul Fraim. “We need strong leaders in Richmond who can maintain the fiscal discipline and strong management we’ve grown accustomed to under Governors Warner and Kaine. Jody Wagner will be that kind of leader.”
“As someone who has served in both state and local government, I know how important it is to have a strong partnership between the two,” said Norfolk Treasurer and former House Speaker Tom Moss. “Jody Wagner will be a strong partner to Virginia’s local officials and help make sure that when things get tough in Richmond, the burden is simply shifted to local governments.”
Wagner, a long time resident of Virginia Beach, served as Virginia Treasurer under Governor Mark Warner, and as Secretary of Finance under Governor Tim Kaine. She resigned earlier this year to run for Lieutenant Governor.
